It’s been a little over eight years since Zendaya has released any music of her own, but this newest season of Euphoria has given the actress an opportunity to finally dip her toe back into some music.
The song "I’m Tired” made its first appearance in Euphoria on episode 4 in which Labrinth made a cameo singing it live. The finale of the show ended with a reprise of the song with vocals from Zendaya.
"I’ll go over and I’ll shoot some stuff, and then when I have a break, I’ll go over and hang out with Lab ‘cause he has a studio now on the lot,” Zendaya explained in the Inside Look of Euphoria's season finale. "So I'm hanging out with him. He’s finding out new sounds to compliment every emotion that we go through in the show.”
In the Inside Look, of the finale, Labrinth discussed a little of his collaboration with Zendaya; "Me and Zendaya were actually sitting in each other’s kind of spiritual energy and space, and we’re getting to inspire each other to make something fresh”.
"Elliot’s Song,” came from one of these many meetings between the two, as well as Labrinth’s wife Muz. The song was performed in the show by Dominic Fike, who plays the character of Elliot, in an extended scene in the finale. The studio version of the song not only features Zendaya, but is also shorter than it was in the show.
Shortly released after the finale on Feb. 28, "I’m Tired” featuring Zendaya was quickly praised by many fans of the show, as was "Elliot’s Song” when it was released a few days later on March 4.
Zendaya took to Twitter to voice her gratitude for the support from fans stating; "I stepped away from music quite a while ago, for a number of reasons, but I still really love it, so the kindness and support I’ve received the past few days just for a little tiny toe dip back into some music means the absolute world to me..thanks<3”.
Definitely go check out these songs when you have the time and show Zendaya some love!
