Laura Pieri was set to record and shoot her next release, a song about love. Her team was prepared with a location, outfits, the whole shabang, but when Laura walked into the studio, her blood was boiling! She was in no mood to sing a song about love. #newmusic #music #grenades #newrelease
"Grenades,” has been marked as Laura’s best song yet! The emotion that she poured into this song portrays the true, real, and raw emotion that Laura felt that day. "Grenades,” is a perfect example of how you can be so angry at a person or situation while understanding that it’s out of your control. All you can do is acknowledge the situation and then simply let it go. The best way for Laura to release this anger, in a healthy way, was to sing about it. The scheduled recording of her love song was quickly placed on the back burner as soon as team Pieri was introduced to, "Grenades”. It was instantly apparent that "Grenades,” was THE SONG that needed to be released, pronto!
"I was trying to get in the right mindset to sing a love song. I was so mad over this toxic guy that had come into my life for .02 seconds and shook everything up. I couldn't think about anything else.” Laura's anger was consuming her mind. Upon arrival at the studio, Josh, her producer, could tell that Laura was upset. Laura continued; "Josh was like; 'Well, how do you feel’? After not being able to stop talking, I word-vomited how I felt. I was like, 'Errr... I wish I could just blow him up’, and that's how 'Grenades,’ came about”. Pieri channeled that anger into a melody, creating a song that would stop everyone in their tracks!
Laura’s anger morphed into creativity. She was belting out powerful lyrics as she released every bit of anxiety from her being. With a video shoot already scheduled, it was now time to modify it to accommodate, "Grenades”. During lockdown, shooting a video is not an easy task yet, Laura’s amazing team made it happen. Laura detailed the day's events; "We changed everything to 'Grenades,' the night before. Usually everything is pre-approved but this was so...in the moment. I was on facetime the night before the shoot trying on outfits. I trusted my team and I knew that they would make magic. Our first set was inside of a huge garage with neon lights. It was like 1000 degrees in there, we were all melting! When we finally made it to the beach for our next shoot, it was freezing cold. This was a day of extremes! The team put all of their creative juices into it. We knew that we wanted to use open spaces and to be mindful of safety. Safety was our priority, so it was a super small set. Everyone did their part and some. This was a different project than what we have done before. 'Grenades,’ was super free form and we had a great time making the song and video. It happened so fast that I blinked and everything was done”.
The past year has supplied us with extremes unlike we have seen before. What next for Laura Pieri you ask? Let’s ask Laura; "I don't know what's next for me. Covid kind of put me in touch with different sides of artistry. I love writing and would like to explore that more. I am doing what feels right for me, right now. 'Grenades,’ is what's next for me... for now. 'Grenades.’ is 'All I Needs,’ darker twisted sister. I am so excited about this song and it’s coming up sooo soon.. Oh My God”!
